Visiting the Sick

Visiting the sick
We have an active ministry to the sick and infirmed in Northern Virginia healthcare institutions. We provide pastoral visits to hospitals, nursing homes, and hospice. While we are not able to provide home visits, we invite the homebound to post online prayer requests.

Visiting the sick has a rich tradition in Christianity, Judaism and Islam. In the New Testament we see Jesus frequently attending to the sick and dying. From making the blind see and the lame walk to curing lepers and raising his friend Lazarus from the dead, the compassion of Jesus to the sick and suffering is a constant theme in the Gospels.

The Gospel of Matthew clearly states that to be a follower of Jesus means to be of service to others: "I was sick and you cared for me." And the text goes on to explain the divine implications: "Whenever you did these things for the least of my brothers or sisters, you did them for me."

Our outreach and visitation to the sick and those walking the final journey of life is one of presence. We have no agenda other than to bring comfort; we do not proselytized. Our visits are primarily a time for us to listened and let those we visit lead the conversation.  Please contact us to arrange a pastoral visit for yourself, a loved one, or a friend.
